On the Verge – The Arrow of Time – Page 253

I don’t really want to hold things up here with a lot of babbling, so let’s just right into today’s page. Here it is:

Did anyone really see that coming? I’d love to know. I mean maybe after last week’s page it seemed like the next obvious thing to happen, but then again maybe not.

Ok, so I’m not going to say that reading the Game of Thrones books didn’t have some influence on my writing (they really did) but that’s not the only reason I went with the George R. Martin approach here and offed the Professor. This is actually something that we’ve been working towards since the very beginning of the book. Back before I reworked everything into its current structure, I produced and posted a two page spread I called “Coda” which I ended up reworking into the Prologue (pages 10-16). This essentially set up who the characters in this story are: the scientist who deal solely in the hypothetical, those in the field that witness what science can and will do, and those who brazenly push forward, regardless of the consequences. The Professor definitely fell into the last one and in the end, his fate has kind of been sealed since the very start.

The question really is, where do we go from here?

The big news that I’m going to share today…
…is that I got on a roll last week and finished off scanning in all of Chapter 9, then got the pages all cleaned up and extra bits added in. So the inks are basically done (barring any late edits that I dream up) and I’ve moved on to adding in colours. So my hope is that I manage to finish by the end of the week. We’ll see how that goes.

Last point for today! How many of you went to see Batman v. Superman? I saw it Friday and despite what the critics are saying, I absolutely loved it and can’t wait to see it again. I’ve got pages and pages of thoughts, but I’ll leave that for another time (though if you want to talk about it, find me on Twitter or Facebook and let’s talk!). But, my last point for the day is that I did pinups of DC Comics Trinity and I wanted to share them with you guys. I know I’ve been trying to keep this site really focused on OTV, but who doesn’t love a good pinup, right? Anyway, if you want to see more than what’s below, I posted an article about the Superman pinup and the full set last week.
